Talks at the Masia

For its part, the “cultural” entity will offer personalized attention to athletes from all the sections of the Barça club to provide them with knowledge about the Catalan language and culture, and will offer talks and annual sessions as part of the training at La Masía.

Òmnium is more than a cultural entity and Barça is more than a clubJoan Laporta, president of FC Barcelona

“Today is a special day. We are very clear that Òmnium is more than a cultural entityBarça is more than a club and the two of us are united by this thread of shared struggles that comes from afar, but that also has a present and that surely also has a future”, said Laporta, for whom this is his second agreement with collaboration with Òmnium after the one in 2004.

Òmnium mobilizes the independence movement

Òmnium Cultural has usually presented itself as an entity whose objectives are to work “for the Catalan language and culture and for the full freedom of Catalonia”, which «works for civic and democratic mobilization to achieve a State for Catalonia».

15 million in public subsidies

Together with the Catalan National Assembly (ANC) it has been the protagonist in recent times in the mobilization of the independence movement, and has been financed with subsidies from municipalities and other administrations “for cultural projects” (it was also subsidized by the Generalitat, an amount that some media put at more than 15 million public euros in the last 15 years) and, above all, with the contribution of the quotas of its partnersamong which is the current manager of Manchester City, Pep Guardiola.
