It can happen so quickly: First the unfortunate relegation from the regional league in May, then an unsettled season in the district league until the end of September. Since the change of coach from Karl-Heinz Wagner via the interim solution Benjamin Burger to Andreas Scheler, things have been going well again at FC Amberg.

Together with assistant coach Josef Haas and team manager Hannes Beer, Scheler got the team back on the road to success. After a series of seven wins in a row, a lot seems possible with a view to the top of the table. 34 accumulated points and two catch-up games in hand leave all possibilities open.

Of course, the six defeats suffered are a heavy burden, and you can’t normally make any big leaps with them. But Scheler apparently awakened what was missing in the often lethargic young team: enthusiasm. Motivation. “I basically want to win every game and take the last one as seriously as the first,” he says. And he praises his players: “The team undoubtedly has potential for development. We must succeed in continuing to improve and improve. Then we want to see what else is possible.”

In terms of personnel, things aren’t looking bad for the spring season. The two Schreiner brothers could be there again, Max Witzel and Nico Herrndobler will probably be able to take part again, as will Benjamin Burger, the strategist in midfield. Marco Helleder, however, is still out and the season seems to be over for him after a serious injury.

Scheler and his coaching staff are not idle externally either. As already reported, Tobias Rudloff (29) comes from SC Luhe Wildenau. In addition, coach’s son Noel Scheler (19) followed his father from SV Hahnbach to FC Amberg.

As far as winter preparation is concerned, Scheler wants to take part in the Amberg city championship and the Wagner Cup in Kümmersbruck with the team indoors. His kickers should keep busy “independently” in January before the actual preparation phase begins. A training camp is planned in Turkey from February 18th to 24th.
