Faure Gnassingbé pardons 352 prisoners

Prisoners at the end of their sentence benefit from the presidential pardon and recover their freedom.

They are a total of 352, including 216 for the civil prison of Lomé, 75 for Atakpamé and 61 for Notsè. An act which falls, according to information, within the framework of the implementation of the criminal policy of decongestion of the penitentiary establishments of Togo. In this sense, a decree granting presidential pardon was issued on March 30, 2023 by His Excellency Mr. Faure Gnassingbé, President of the Republic.

As a reminder, three hundred and sixty-four prisoners were pardoned in 2022 in twelve prisons in Togo; more than 1000 in 2020 and 454 in 2019.
