Jan 2 – America’s leading infectious disease expert Anthony Fauci said there is still a danger of increased hospitalizations due to large numbers of coronavirus cases, even though early data suggests that the variant omicron is less serious.
“The only difficulty is that if there are so many cases, even though the hospitalization rate is lower with omicron than with delta, there is still the danger of an increase in hospitalizations that could stress the health system,” Fauci said in a interview on Sunday with the CNN.
