Fatou Bensouda, prosecutor of the Cpi, sanctioned by the Usa

The United States announced on Wednesday sanctions against the prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC) Fatou Bensouda.

“Any individual or entity who will continue to assist materially” the prosecutor “is also exposed to sanctions”, declared the chief of the American diplomacy Mike Pompeo during a press conference.

The Trump administration will ban Gambian access to US territory.
Fatou Bensouda announced in 2017 that she would ask the judges for authorization to open an investigation into alleged war crimes committed in the context of the Afghan conflict, in particular by the US military.

“We can confirm that the American authorities have revoked the visa for entry into the United States of the prosecutor,” assured the office of Fatou Bensouda, in a statement released Friday, April 5, 2019.

The prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, Fatou Bensouda has less than a year before the end of her mandate. For his succession, four candidates are in the running for this prestigious position. They are the Nigerian Morris Anyah, the Ugandan Susan Okalany, the Irish Fergal Gaynor and the Canadian Richard Roy. The fate of the ICC will therefore be decided in December 2020. All of them are professionals of international justice with densely rich backgrounds.
