Jonathan M. is 41 years old. The mother of one of the children he conceived and the Donorkind Foundation sued the “mass donor” for continuing to search for potential parents on social networks, despite the recommendations of Dutch clinics to limit 25 conceptions to avoid inbreeding, incest and psychological problems in donor children.
The plaintiff, according to Donorkind, found the man in 2018 through a dating platform. He promised to follow the recommendations of the Dutch clinics. But later the woman found out that already at that time Jonathan M. became the father of 100 children only in Dutch clinics. The exact number of children conceived by him privately and through a Danish clinic that sent his sperm to clients in different countries could not be established. As a donor since 2007, it is estimated that he has fathered at least 550 children.
The court stated that “the likelihood of negative psychosocial consequences” for all of them associated with the fear of incest is high. “Therefore, it is in their interest that this network of kinship does not expand,” the Hague District Court said in a statement.
The donor’s lawyer stated in court that Jonathan M. simply wanted to help those parents who could not conceive a child in any other way.
