Fastest roller coaster in the world closed after bone fractures | Abroad

The imposing roller coaster, which reaches a speed of no less than 180 kilometers per hour in just two seconds, is said to have left traces on four passengers between December 2020 and August 2021. When accelerating, passengers would have to endure forces of up to 3g.

Fractures in the neck and spine have mainly been identified. The top attraction at the foot of Mount Fuji is therefore temporarily closed for investigation by order of the authorities. “We are investigating whether there is a connection between the fractures and the attraction,” the park said. “So far, no connection has been established.”

The breaches came to light when the park raised reports of passenger injuries with the Ministry of Infrastructure. According to the park, in at least one case it turned out that a woman was not properly seated in the car, causing her to be shaken considerably over the route of more than 1 kilometer.

The park has a reputation to uphold for the scariest and most challenging roller coasters. In 2011, the Takabisha was opened, the steepest roller coaster in the world with a vertical section of 50 meters followed by a sharp bend that puts the neck muscles to the test.

The Do-Dodonpa is not the roller coaster with the highest top speed in the world. That honor goes to the Formula Rossa in Abu Dhabi (United Arab Emirates): 240 kilometers per hour.
