Fans have to wait longer for “The Batman” because of the corona crisis

Even superhero Batman is not spared the Corona crisis. The planned film “The Batman” with the main actor Robert Pattinson is only due to be released in October 2021, as Studio Warner Bros. announced on Monday. The start in the USA was originally scheduled for June next year.

In February, Pattinson gave a short video for the first time of his appearance as a bat man directed by Matt Reeves (“Planet of the Apes”). Filming with the British “Twilight” star had started in January, but was stopped in mid-March due to the corona pandemic.

Numerous film and TV productions have been put on hold in recent weeks. Because of the currently closed cinemas around the world, many Hollywood studios are overturning their schedules. The film starts of “Wonder Woman 1984”, “Fast & Furious 9” or “Ghostbusters: Legacy” have already been postponed.

In addition to Pattinson, “The Batman” features Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, Paul Dano as Riddler, Colin Farrell as Penguin, Andy Serkis in the role of Butler character Alfred Pennyworth and John Turturro as Mafia villain Carmine Falcone.
