fans and air conditioners are on the rise in the Dordogne

Placed in orange vigilance by Météo France, the Dordogne is experiencing a new heat wave episode. 40.4 degrees in Périgueux, 40.5 degrees in Terrasson and 40 degrees in Bergerac were recorded on Friday August 7. An episode qualified as a “heat peak”, by the antenna of the meteorological and climatological service in Agen.

In this context, the stores located to the east of the Perigord agglomeration note that sales of fans, misters and other air conditioners are doing well, especially since no shortage seems to threaten.

The rush

A manager of the Boulanger store in Trélissac confides that sales were “significant at the end of July” during the previous heatwave episode, adding “that with the Covid-19, people exercising their profession by teleworking are equipped accordingly”. He believes that they may “start to rise again” next week.

At the Hyper U in Boulazac, which sells humidifiers, a seller recognizes that since the beginning of August, sales have been “increasing” steadily while boasting of offering the lowest prices.

As for the Darty brand, still in Boulazac, the employees have planned everything:

This year, we had anticipated and ordered air conditioning in advance, explains a salesperson. As soon as we cross the 35 or even 40 degree mark, customers flock to the store. “

All of the brands surveyed recognize that the vast majority of customers turn to “imported” products.

Coolers on the rise

Finally, at the Leclerc store in Trélissac, the usual fans and air conditioners see coolers gaining ground: “Many customers turn to coolers because they are the intermediary between the air conditioning and the fan,” explains a saleswoman. This year, it takes a slightly larger market share than the previous ones. “
