‘Family X’ welcomes twelfth child with letters A, E, L and X: ‘Definitely our last’ | Abroad

The large family lives in Kleine Veldstraat, in the center of Staden. Alex (14), Axel (13), Xela (12), Lexa (11), Xael (10), Xeal (9), Exla (6), Leax (5), Xale (3), Elax (2) and Alxe (1) recently got another sister. In addition to Laex, Ealx and Exal were a possible letter combination for the newborn child.

It will be the last member of the Vaneenoo-Blanckaert family. “We dream of having twelve children at the beginning,” said mom Gwenny Blanckaert to Nieuwsblad earlier. “It is a very conscious choice, we made that decision before we had our first child. Now it will definitely be our last child.” The couple initially thought it would be a son, but it was only in the last few weeks that it became clear that a girl would join the big family. With eight daughters and four sons, ‘Family X’ is now complete.

Papa Marino Vaneenoo works as a night shift worker. Mama Gwenny works part-time to have enough time to take care of the household. She manages to organize everything herself. “People often think that it must be very chaotic with so many children in the house, but that is not so bad. We raise every child the same way, they are all quite calm and it is never a madhouse here. Occasionally we get help from family or someone can go to sleep with a boyfriend or girlfriend.”
