Family Medicine Unit 55 of the IMSS has the necessary supplies and protective equipment

The Representative Office in Puebla, of the Mexican Institute of Social Security (IMSS), reports that the Family Medicine Unit (UMF) No. 55 has the necessary supplies and protective equipment for all the personnel who work in it.

The categories that have direct contact with suspected or confirmed COVID-19 patients have the complete Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), informed the director of UMF No. 55 of the IMSS, Guillermo Hernández Guzmán.

The full protective gear consists of a hat, gloves, face shield, goggles, N95 respirators, disposable gowns, and protective boots; It is delivered daily to doctors, nurses, an ambulance operator, hygiene and cleaning, as well as laboratory personnel, who support suspect patients in taking samples.

Hernández Guzmán added that they also have the support of the Representation Office warehouse, which promptly supplies cleaning products, soap, chlorine, and disinfectant to carry out thorough and daily cleaning of the unit.

On the other hand, the head of Nursing of the unit, Julia Laura Cerezo Vázquez, pointed out that in continuous medical admission (emergencies), in addition to the equipment that is given to the doctors, the N95 respirators are doubled, so that in case of care for a patient with respiratory problems is provided and thus avoid possible infection.

The specialist emphasized that upon admission to the UMF they have a filter where the temperature is taken from the patients, they are given alcohol gel, they are given a small questionnaire to detect possible symptoms; and in case of detecting a suspicious patient, she is invited to go to the respiratory module to receive the corresponding attention.

He added that, as well as the health and safety of the beneficiaries are taken care of, the daily filter is also applied to the staff at the beginning of each day, if they show suspicious symptoms, they are attended to in a timely manner to avoid possible contagions.

Finally, Guillermo Hernández Guzmán pointed out that, if the beneficiaries need to be cared for in the unit, they feel reassured that they have all the protection, cleanliness, specialized personnel to attend to them, as well as oximetry equipment to detect respiratory problems and readers.
