Faisal Basri’s prediction, without strategic steps for Indonesia to go bankrupt before the end of the Jokowi era

Eramuslim.com -If there is no strategic step from the government, the threat of economic bankruptcy in Indonesia will occur even before President Joko Widodo’s term ends in 2024.

That was said by senior economist Faisal Basri in a Gelora Talk entitled “Covid-19 and the Threat of Business World Bankruptcy”, Wednesday (13/10).

“Bankruptcy cannot be too long, before 2024, this government is already bankrupt,” said Faisal Basri.

One of the indicators that Faisal highlighted is the decision of the state-owned company PT Waskita Karya to sell the ownership shares of the Cibitung-Cilincing toll road worth Rp 2.44 trillion.

“Waskita sold toll roads for Rp. 2 trillion, even though the investment was Rp. 11 trillion. After a while, it went bankrupt (state finances),” he explained.

He hopes that President Jokowi will soon realize that state finances are under threat and need tactical steps to save it.

One of them, said Faisal, is getting rid of people around Jokowi.

“The president (should) be aware of cleaning up the people around him from people like Moeldoko, Ali Ngabalin, Luhut Pandjaitan, if not, then you have to accept the risk,” he concluded. [RMOL]
