The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) through the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal issues a letter to revoke the export ban coal for some ships that already meet the DMO requirements.
This is stated in a letter numbered B-165/MB.05/DJB.B/2022 issued January 13, 2022. Here are the facts:
1. 18 Ships Sailing Again
The letter explained that there were 37 foreign coal export ships with cargo status already on board. However, the Directorate General of Mineral and Coal only lifted the export ban on 18 coal ships.
A total of 18 have fulfilled their Domestic Market Obligation (DMO) obligations, namely supplying coal to PLN for 25% of the total production per year at a price of US$ 70 per metric ton.
“18 ships loaded with coal from PKP2B and Production Operation IUP holders who have fulfilled the 2021 DMO of 100% or more,” reads the letter signed by the Director General of Minerba Ridwan Djamaluddin.
2. 19 Ships Not Ready
A total of two MV ships. HC. SUNSHINE and MV. INTER STEVEDORIN has not yet loaded coal. One MV ship. THAI KNOWLEDGE in coal loading process,
Then there are 16 ships loading coal from PKP2B and IUP Production Operations that have not met the DMO of 2021 by 100% as well as from the holders of transportation and sales permits.
As a result, only 18 ships had the sanctions for banning the sale of coal to be lifted abroad. The Directorate General of Mineral and Coal asked the relevant authorities to reactivate Registered Exporters (ET), provide Export Notification of Goods (PEB) services, and issue Sailing Approval Letters (SPB) for the sale of coal abroad for the 18 vessels.
