Fact! This Turkish Drone Makes Russia Uneasy

Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – The decision of the Ukrainian government to use a Turkish-made drone or drone, the Bayraktar TB2, is a move that worries Russia. This was conveyed directly by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu) early last week.

In a statement, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that the Kremlin is currently very concerned about the purchase. He even said that this step was a disturbance to the emergence of stability in the region of Eastern Ukraine and the Crimean Peninsula.

“Russia is investigating reports that Ukraine used a Turkish-made drone,” he was quoted as saying by local Turkish media, Daily Sabah.

This turned out to be not a figment. The world’s leading political analyst, Francis Fukuyama, said the Bayraktar TB2 is a very sophisticated drone whose power is equal to that of British warships.

“Drones, however, are not very difficult to manufacture. And, the latest from Turkey is quite impressive. TB2 can stay aloft for 24 hours, and can carry out reconnaissance and attack missions,” he wrote as quoted on Tuesday (12/28/2021).

He also stressed that this drone will slightly change the map of the battle between Ukraine and Russia. Currently the two countries are at loggerheads in the Donbass region, where Kiev will get a new addition to attack pro-Russian militias backed by Moscow.

“Ukraine using Turkish drones in the region could be a complete game changer,” he said.

Turkey, which is a NATO member, has criticized Moscow’s annexation of the Crimea region and voiced support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity. This is also in line with the decisions of European countries and the United States (US) to impose sanctions on the country led by President Vladimir Putin.
