Horizon Worlds is far from Meta’s futuristic vision for internet development yet. But it already makes it possible to participate in games with friends or to develop a virtual world. Previously, a trial version of the platform had been made available to a select group.
The parent company of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp and Oculus changed its name to Meta during the fall to underscore its belief in the ‘metaverse’. The internet group had previously announced that it was going to invest significantly more in order to create a digital world that would hardly be distinguished from the real world. This year again, the amount of investments will be around 19 billion dollars (more than 16 billion euros after conversion). But next year, that amount will hover between $ 29 billion and $ 34 billion, causing operating profit to drop $ 10 billion.
Hate messages
Meta’s social media platforms are being singled out, however.
