While the images of politicians who hug and kiss children, or make them dance or laugh for proselytizing purposes, abound in this electoral process, the proposals to guarantee them education, justice and security barely appeared in some cases.
The sanction of the morenista Julieta Andrea Ramírez Padilla, candidate for federal deputy for District 2 of Baja California, for using images of minors to ask for the vote, is just one example of how the candidates for popular election positions ignored the “superior interest from childhood ”and simply used his image.
And it was not the only one … this situation was repeated over and over again in this electoral process in different parts of the country, despite situations such as those of the deputy, also of Morena, Cipriano Charrez, which occurred three years ago, and who had already been detained, Accused of attempted murder, he was fined because in his campaign he used minors for proselytizing purposes. The fine was applied to him, once, with the support of the Financial Intelligence Unit, it was confirmed that he had the resources to cover it.
It seems that the candidates live in an isolated world, in which not even their parties know what they are doing or not doing, that is why they repeat this irregularity over and over again, in an action that shows that, at least for children , there is no serious commitment.
Those photos in which politicians appear, hugging and kissing children for proselytizing purposes should not be disseminated, in principle, if they do not have the signed permission of their parents or guardians, and if they are adolescents, they should also have their consent.
… And if candidates for popularly elected positions do not fall on the importance of the best interests of children and without precaution or modesty use images of minors to ask for the vote, what can we expect from social networks, the medium in which they are disseminated daily … That they are the ones who regulate themselves?
On September 10, 2020, the Regional Specialized Chamber of the Electoral Court asked Facebook Inc. to download images of minors from its platform, in compliance with a sentence considering them illegal. Thirteen days later the company replied that it had removed only some, but that it could not remove others that were requested because it did not warn any identifiable minor.
It was not until after October 15, 2020, when the social network was again required to remove those images, while the SAT was asked for the economic capacity of Facebook to establish a fine. And they withdrew … until they were told that it was not a favor that was being asked of them, but that it was an order from the Judicial Power.
