Facebook makes realistic avatars for VR

If it is up to Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg, future virtual reality glasses from the company will follow the user’s eyes and face. The intention is that this technology is used for realistic avatars, among other things.

“I would like to get to the point where you have realistic avatars of yourself that allow you to make real authentic eye contact with someone and have real expressions that are reflected in your avatar,” Zuckberg said in a statement interview met The Information.

A new generation of virtual reality avatars will be released later this year, but Zuckerberg argues that Facebook’s avatars will only become more realistic in the years that follow.
