FAA Suspends Operation of some Boeing 737 MAX 9 Aircraft Due to Window Depressurization Incident

Due to depressurization of a window during departure on one of the flights, the operation of some Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft will be suspended. This was stated by the administrator of the US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Michael Whitaker.

“The FAA is requiring immediate inspections of certain Boeing 737 MAX 9 aircraft before they can return to flight. <…> “We are assisting the National Transportation Safety Board with its investigation into Alaska Airlines Flight 1282,” Michael Whitaker commented on the review order, which was published on FAA website.

The document states that the check will affect 171 aircraft. According to FAA experts, it will take four to eight hours to inspect and evaluate one aircraft.

During the flight of the Boeing 737 MAX 9 the porthole blew out. The crew had to urgently land the ship at the departure airport, as the problem appeared in the first 20 minutes of the flight. The incident occurred on Friday, January 5 in Portland, USA.
