FAA recommends “extreme caution” when flying over Belarus

WASHINGTON (Reuters) – The United States Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) said on Friday it was asking U.S. airlines to exercise extreme caution when flying over Belarus.

The FAA advisory does not recommend passenger carriers to stop their flights over Belarus. It comes after the forced landing last Sunday in Minsk of a Ryanair flight between Greece and Lithuania, which allowed the Belarusian authorities to arrest the opponent in exile Roman Protassevich, passenger of the aircraft.

The notice does not apply to US freight carriers.
