F1 speed temple in the red realm

The F1 Italian GP has something different for everyone – for some it is a fast straight line that allows you to drive around at an average speed of 260 km / h, for others it is a glaring crowd of Ferrari fans, which makes Italians feel like a pilgrimage, but more experienced fans will remember several vivid , exciting and tragic moments. But hearing Monza’s name is not indifferent. The atmosphere that takes over the track on the race weekend is unique.

This time, not only the atmosphere is unique, but also the seasonal situation. After an eventful week in the rider’s market, it’s time to return to the events on the track and take a look at the main intrigues before the F1 Italian GP.

In changed roles

In the previous stages, the Red Bull team had a slight speed advantage. Max Verstapen and team leader Christian Horner are convinced that this will be a Mercedes area, as the track with fast straights and slow curves will be more suitable for their formulas. Lewis Hamilton does not believe competitors’ statements, pointing to the predominance of Honda engines on straight other tracks. The British athlete is sure that the fights will be very close.

Teamwork will play an important role in qualification. Serhio Peres and Walter Botas are likely to have to sacrifice their laps to help a teammate win a pole position with the help of a leeward. The sprint ride will help both gunmen return to their usual positions.

Both in terms of formula behavior and engine battles this year we have not experienced too strong dominance of one or the other team on a track, so the smallest nuances this time can decide not only the winner, but also which rider will go home as the overall leader, because currently only two points separate in favor of Verstapen.

Tifosi hard times

If all of a sudden there is no miracle, for the first time since 1993, Ferrari will have spent two consecutive seasons without victories. At the moment, the team is facing a dilemma – a logical step would be to focus on the 2022 season, but there are currently hot fights in the constructors’ cup with the old rivals “McLaren” for the third place.

Charles Clecker has pointed out that the track is not suitable for this year’s Ferrari formula due to low pressure and high results will be difficult to achieve. In recent stages, he has managed to gain a slight advantage over McLaren, but it may disappear at home. Let’s see if Lecler’s worries are justified, or if these words are more for demanding fans, who always want only victories.

One more time

Kimi Raikonen is loved in Italy. He is the last driver to bring the team the title of champion and spent a total of 8 seasons in a bright red car, winning his last pole position in 2018 in Monza. Unfortunately, he will not participate in this stage due to Covid-19. However, nature does not love emptiness – where one fails, there is an opportunity for another. Robert Kubica made an amazing return to F1 in the Netherlands. Now the pole is given another opportunity.

Kubica is considered one of the brightest stars of the last stage. After skipping Friday’s practice, he only had an hour-long session to prepare for the race. Kubica reached the finish line 15th just after Giovanni. It is unlikely that Raikonen would be able to do much more. This is likely to be the last F1 race in Cubica’s career, but it is nowhere near the first time such a statement has been made.

Sprint in sprint

The question of which is the shortest race on the F1 calendar is now known to everyone. But sometimes it doesn’t rain in Belgium. And in those cases, the honor reaches the Italian stage. According to the winner’s average speed, 25 of the 27 fastest races took place in Monza. Most of the track is run on gas on the floor, so it is usually possible to cover the race distance much faster than on other tracks.

This time the stage was supplemented by a sprint ride. The experiment in Silverstone was successful and the spectators had the opportunity to watch more of the fight on the track compared to the usual format. Will the same happen in Monza? Since the chances of overtaking here are very good, even an unsuccessful qualification on Friday does not make a head – everything is possible. After all, last year even the AlphaTauri team won on a dry track. Spectators who usually skip workouts but watch the qualifiers and races with interest will have something to see on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

Struggles also small

Haas is the slowest team this season. The only one who has not won points. In terms of results, there is no reason to expect anything else, but the intrigue inside the unit vibrates like never before. The two debuters Nikita Mazepin and Miks Schumacher did not understand the Dutch GP qualification, damaging Q1 also Sebastian Fettel, but later in the race they both faced in the first lap, making the weekend even more hopeless.

The relationship between the two young men was not good already, but in the incidents the two started blaming each other and now the two are no longer talking to each other, moreover, Mika’s uncle Ralph has expressed the position that Nikita has no place in the F1 championship. Both the Schumacher and Mazepin families can create drama all around them, but from the point of view of the overall intrigue, this hot duel is exciting, even if the fight is only for 19th place.
