Exynos 2400: The Powerful Chipset Expected for the Galaxy S24 Phones, But Not for Europe

The Exynos 2400 is expected to appear in the Galaxy S24 range of phones
It is supposed to be more powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2
However, the Galaxy S24 with Exynos is reportedly not going to the European market

It’s been a few weeks since the information that the upcoming Galaxy S23 FE smartphone will use the Exynos 2200 chipset in some parts of the world flew around the tech world. Later, Geekbench results even appeared to confirm this. It was also increasingly rumored that the flagship models of the Galaxy S24 series would return to Exynos after a one-year break. This was also confirmed by Ben Wood, an analyst at CCS Insight in a recent interview.

The comeback of Exynos may not concern the European market

This year’s range of Samsung’s premium phones is special in that it exclusively uses Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipsets. In previous years, the Korean company split its flagship models and offered different chipsets in different markets. Meanwhile, Exynos was available in Europe and several other regions, while Snapdragon chipsets were used in the US.

The latest speculation is that the chipsets will be split again next year, although from a European customer’s point of view this might not be a bad thing. “I would be surprised if Samsung decided to go back to Exynos for the important European market, but we could see it in some smaller markets to ensure that the company’s own platform stays in the game. There’s probably also an element of Samsung wanting to keep Qualcomm at least a little bit at bay,” Ben Wood, senior analyst at CCS Insight, told Pocket-lint.

Specifically, it is supposed to be the Exynos 2400, which is supposed to have up to four times more graphics processing units than the Xclipse 920 from the Exynos 2200. The initial benchmarks should show that in Single Core operations it is comparable to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, and in Multi Core it is said to 20 percent more efficient. Of course, it is good to note that it will only compete with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, and not with the older generation. In addition, the main problem of Exynos is not so much performance as overheating and high energy consumption.

However, the final decision regarding the chipset in the Galaxy S24 will be made in a few months. Samsung may even be waiting to see how the Galaxy S23 FE will perform, and will react accordingly.
