The management of the Slovak hockey club HC Slovan Bratislava fired the head coach Robert Döme on Monday after losing on Sunday with the last team in the table of the Tipos extra league MHk 32 Liptovský Mikuláš 3: 4 ppp and sn.
The team will lead in the training process as well as in the next match from the position of head coach Andrej Podkonickýreturning from a successful Olympic tournament in Beijing.
“Mutual trust with the club management was broken at the turn of the year after two losses with Nové Zámky. Yesterday’s loss to the last team of the table was just the famous drop in the cup. Personally, I’m sorry, but this is how our club with its staff and opportunities may not present, especially not in the jubilee centennial season.
We need to give the team a new impetus, before it is too late, so that we can realistically apply for the highest goals. Therefore, in agreement with the shareholders, we proceeded to change to the position of head coach, “ said HC Slovan Bratislava general manager Maroš Krajči for the club website.
Andrej Podkonický will move to Döm as head coach. The match premiere will take place on Friday, February 25, on the HC ’05 Banská Bystrica ice. Over the next few days, the club’s management will inform the fan public whether the current implementation team will add another expert.
Döme became the head coach of the Slavs in January 2021, when he replaced Roman Stantien in this position. He stood in 70 extra-league matches on the “white” substitute, in which he and his team won in 43 duels, which represents a 61% success rate. In addition, he led the team in six Champions Hockey League matches.
