Explosion at Ankara weapons factory kills 5; investigation underway

An explosion at a weapons factory in the Turkish capital Ankara killed five people this morning, the Defense Ministry reported. The victims were in a building that collapsed after the explosion.

The explosion was on the site of a state-owned company that makes missiles and explosives. The impact shattered windows of nearby shops and homes.

The cause of the explosion is not yet known, but the governor of Ankara says something probably went wrong in the production of dynamite. Prosecutors have launched an investigation.
