Last night, the air temperature in the center of Riga did not fall below +20 degrees, thus experiencing the first tropical night of this summer, according to information from the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center.

Around 2 fixed the lowest night temperature when it reached +20.3 degrees.

Nights that do not get colder than +20 degrees are called tropical nights.

There are one or a few tropical nights in Latvia almost every summer. Last year in June there were two of them in Riga, moreover, the first of them on the night of June 6, which became the earliest tropical night in the history of meteorological observations, but in the hot summer of 2018 in Riga at 14 nights the temperature did not fall below 20 degrees, which was repeated tropical nights record. Elsewhere in Latvia, there are far fewer tropical nights than in Riga, because in the capital, nights in heat waves are due to warmer buildings.
