The artist herself reveals: “I want people to leave my exhibition with a sense of the magic of the moment. For wanting to be closer to infinity, we are only here for a moment. I want us to appreciate these moments and be more with our inner world. Maybe that’s why I find the most attractive in art is the associative, the subjective, also the telling, the completely unsaid. Also, there’s something magical about the process, it’s about dreaming.”
Ilze Egle emphasizes the importance of family in her artistic growth:
“I was born into a family of two artists and as far back as I can remember, I always drew, even in my childhood photos I drew. My parents opened the door to the magic of the art world and taught me to dream. From the first big drawings at the age of two, three, I still have a love for large forms, monumentalism.”
Ilze Egle graduated from the Janis Rozentāls Riga Art High School and the Latvian Art Academy, supplementing her studies in Italy, she also studied Theology and Art Management.
Ilze has been active in cultural projects for many years and is a member of the Artists’ Union of Latvia. Ilze’s works are in private collections and the artist has participated in exhibitions with drawings, paintings, illustrations and photographs in Latvia, Sweden, Norway, Wales, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Canada and Australia.
On the opening day, visitors to the exhibition will be able to enjoy music performed by a jazz trio created especially for this event – vocals by Rebeka Rēke, piano by Helvijs Guļans, percussion by Markus Leikus.
Ilze Egle’s solo exhibition “On my own” will be on view from September 3 to October 22 at the “Zeit” art space in Līgatne.
