Experience the Highlights of Rome: Six-Day Trip Offered by Hotzenwald Catholics

In June, the Catholics from Hotzenwald are offering a six-day trip to Rome. There are many highlights waiting.

The Catholic Education Center Hotzenwald, in cooperation with the Catholic public library St. Bartholomäus Görwihl, is offering a six-day trip to Rome next year from June 10th to 16th, 2024. Departure is on Monday, June 10th at 10 p.m. Arrival is on Tuesday, June 11th, around 2 p.m.

In the following days, a multi-faceted program awaits the excursionists, starting on Wednesday, June 12th, with the papal audience. Afterwards, the experience of “classic Rome” awaits with the Trevi Fountain, Spanish Steps and Pantheon.

On Thursday, June 13th, the focus is on religious and ancient Rome. After the visit to St. Peter’s Church, the largest basilica in world Christianity with its valuable furnishings – Michelangelo’s Pietà, the venerable St. Peter’s statue, Bernini’s masterpieces and the papal altar above St. Peter’s tomb – a “walk through antiquity” follows with an overview of the Roman Forum, the tour of the Colosseum, then past the Imperial Forums back to Piazza Venezia at the foot of the Capitol. The Vatican Museums and the Sistine Chapel are on the travel calendar for Friday, June 14th. The largest and most important collections of cultural and art treasures can be seen in the Vatican Museums. The museum consists of twelve complexes and over 1,300 rooms; visitors have to travel seven kilometers to complete a tour. The most famous part of the museums is the Sistine Chapel. It gained its fame thanks to one of the best artists of the Renaissance: Michelangelo. Scenes from Genesis can be seen on more than 520 square meters. At midday there is free time in Rome.

The last day in Rome on Saturday June 15th begins with a visit to the catacombs. It goes down into the underground burial chambers of the early Christians. At midday there is free time again in Rome. And then it’s time to say goodbye on Sunday, June 16th. You will spend the night in a hotel about a ten-minute walk from St. Peter’s Basilica in the middle of a two-hectare park.

Information and registrations can be obtained from tour guide Alfred R. Laffter from the Catholic Educational Center Hotzenwald on 07754/9292494 or 0172/6312918 or by email to: [email protected]. The booking deadline is March 29, 2024.
