“Experience the Festivities of Saint-Hermentaire in Draguignan: Laughter, Good Food, and Live Music on Boulevard Clemenceau”

Laughter, good cooked food, and a concert on the main thoroughfare downtown. Such is the spectacle offered by the Dracénois on the occasion of Saint-Hermentaire, the feast of the patron saint of Draguignan.

Saturday May 27, 2023, the festivities began on boulevard Clemenceau with the Grande Table at 7 p.m.

To drink and to eat

The concept? Everyone reserves a piece of the table for this giant dinner and brings back something to eat and drink in a good mood, all with a stage set up in front of the Esplanade theater with a concert all evening long for the atmosphere. MaxEnce who recently participated in The Voice as well as the group O’Kazoo thus animated the evening.

Six days before even the holding of this event without common measure, the Animation Dracénoise, association in charge, among other things, of the organization of the festivities of Saint-Hermentaire, announced that the event was going to be full. A success therefore after several cancellations linked to the pandemic and a somewhat sparse 2022 edition.

“We missed it”

For Roxanne, 72, and Nanou, 56, both from Dracénoises, the Grande table is a must. “It’s conviviality, everyone smiles at each other, laughs”, begins Nanou without losing her smile.

“We are in the open air, there is an atmosphere of music and it is good for everyone. Especially for the Dracénois. We can be wild sometimes”, jokes Roxanne. The aperitif is already on the table, with “the rosé, of course!”

“And then honestly, with the cancellations linked to the Covid, we noticed how much we had missed it”, concludes the septuagenarian.

A little further on, on the second long table set up on the boulevard, a group of friends has taken up position. On the table, rosé is also out, and there is something to eat with cakes, pizzas, olives and crisps. “And that’s just the aperitif!”exclaims one of them, his companion mischievously pointing to the four coolers placed under the table.

They too are Dracénois, but this is a great first. “We had never done it and this year, we said why not”explains one of them. “So we’re going to enjoy it”assures his friend.

A thousand guests expected

“In total, we are expecting 1,050 guests”breathes one of the members of the Animation Dracénoise around 8 p.m., while several hundred participants still had to be placed.

The celebration will continue throughout the weekend of Pentecost, with the traditional parade of the flower parade, Sunday May 28, 2023 at 4 p.m. then a second night parade at 9 p.m. A carnival has been set up for the occasion in the Allées d’Azémar car park.
