“Experience Badisches im Breisgau: Weinkult and BZ-Genussmarkt in Hecklinger Schlosshof”

On Saturday and Sunday, May 13th and 14th, the Weinkult Breisgau and the BZ-Genussmarkt will take place for the first time in the Hecklinger Schlosshof. 50 companies present themselves under the motto “Badisches im Breisgau”.

Weinkult Breisgau has been a household name for many wine lovers for years. The best-known winegrowers from Breisgau will present a selection of their wines and sparkling wines. After the event had to take place online for the past two years due to the corona pandemic, it is now being held live on site again. More than 70 wines and sparkling wines will be presented in the Hecklinger Schlosshof below the castle ruins. These can be tasted on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Saturday, May 13, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., there will also be a wine party with music in the castle courtyard.

The range of wines and sparkling wines extends from the traditional varieties of Pinot Blanc, Pinot Gris and Pinot Noir to Riesling, Chardonnay, Mller-Thurgau, Auxerrois and various Cuves to Muskateller, Sauvignon Blanc and the increasingly popular Ross. For the first time there will also be non-alcoholic sparkling wines and wines to be tasted.

The Breisgau wine-growing region, which stretches between Oberschopfheim in the north and Freiburg in the south over a cultivation area of around 1,600 hectares, is primarily characterized by shell limestone and gneiss soils. They mainly produce excellent white, gray and pinot noirs. No two wines are the same, each one has its own special character. Individual taste experiences are therefore guaranteed. It will be exciting to see what the cellar masters have put into the barrels and bottles from the very good 2022 grape vintage.

But not only wines and sparkling wines are presented to the visitors. For the first time, the Badische Zeitung is organizing a gourmet market at the same time as the Weinkult Breisgau in the Hecklinger Schlosshof under the motto “Badisches im Breisgau”. Around 20 regional producers will be presenting their culinary specialities. Among other things, there are herbs and spices, salt, truffles, oil, vinegar as well as vegetarian and vegan food on Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Of course, sweets and fruit shouldn’t be missing either, ice cream, jams, pastries and fruit specialties are on offer, along with coffee creations made in the region to go with them. Those who prefer something heartier will get their money’s worth with ham, salami and grilled specialties as well as various breads. In addition to many wines, there are fruit juices, brandies and distillates to drink. Trying is better than studying. This is exactly what the offer of the gourmet market is designed for. Visitors should be able to taste as many products as possible that are made in their homeland, talk to the manufacturers and raise awareness of the value of the goods produced in the region. The admission price of twelve euros – ten euros with the BZ-Card – includes a tasting of five sparkling wines or wines. Music will also be heard in the Hecklinger Schlosshof on both days. On Saturday, Mira Zai and Werner Englert will perform, as well as DJ Johannes Rderer at the wine party from 6 p.m.

On Sunday it will be the turn of the singer/songwriter duo Mike Furtwngler and Enrico Novi.
