“Expectant Ukrainian refugee, aged 60, seeks financial support – PICTURES”

“The upcoming section will cost at least BGN 3,000 and if someone can help with money, she will be grateful for the rest of her life,” writes the Facebook page Ukraine Support & Renovation

The Ukrainian ballerina Valeriya Yarotskaya is 59 years old and a refugee in Bulgaria. She is due to give birth to a baby in just two days. She arrived all alone in our country, she enjoys the Bulgarian hospitality, but she is in dire need of money.

“A C-section is coming up on March 24. The cost of the operation is between BGN 3,000 and 6,000. This is a huge amount, and if anyone can help raise money for Valeria, she will be grateful for the rest of her life,” writes the Facebook page Ukraine Support & Renovation.

Valeria has been a widow for five years, having recently lost both her mother and father. The war leaves her all alone in Kiev. She begins a new friendship and finds out she is pregnant, despite having been trying for a second child for the past 20 years:

“I couldn’t imagine not keeping this child. There is so much death in this terrible war… This child is my salvation, and the years are just a number,” says the ballerina.

The Open Heart NGO Foundation also shares her case on the web and specifies that her daughter, who is 25 years old, went as a refugee to Canada.

“Canada is very far for me. I wanted to be in Bulgaria. I love this country very much. I have visited it more than once as a tourist. I have wonderful memories of this place. I came here many times with my late husband,” she explained.

Yarotskaya devoted her whole life to ballet. She worked at the National Opera, was a teacher at the Academy of Dance and at the Kyiv Academy of Arts.

He now lives in an apartment in Ravda. She still has some savings left. She wants to return to ballet and teaching when the war is over. Donors have helped with funds for hospitalization and other essentials.

The foundation promises to take care of Yarotskaya after the birth, but is appealing for donations.
