The fleet already includes 43 aircraft. At least a dozen more will be added by the end of 2021. Amazon announced on Thursday (June 4) that it will lease another 12 freighter Boeing 767-300s from Air Transport Services Group ATSG. The first copy has already been delivered, the eleven more will follow next year.

Amazon Air rents the planes for at least ten years. The contract with ATSG can then be extended for a further three years. The airline was founded in 2015 and was then called Prime Air. It flies packages exclusively for the retail giant, initially in the USA. An expansion to Europe is already quite concrete. Amazon Air does not operate its Boeing 737 and 767 itself, but relies on wet lease providers such as Air Transport International or Atlas Air.
