Ivermectin rise to become one Covid-19 therapeutic drugs the most sought after by the public. In particular, after the Minister BUMN Erick Thohir claimed that Ivermectin had obtained a marketing authorization as a therapeutic drug for COVID-19 in the midst of a spike in cases.
Erick wants the drug concoction of PT Indofarma Tbk, a subsidiary of PT Bio Farma (Persero), as one of the cheap drugs for the community in the fight against covid-19.
But, in reality, the price of these drugs sold varies in the market, with a tendency to be more expensive in e-commerce than pharmacies.
Kimia Farma Pharmacy in the Cinere area, Depok, for example, sells Ivermectin made by Indofarma for IDR 7,500 per item. This price is not much different from the price set by Erick, which is Rp. 5,000 to Rp. 7,000 per item.
Sales must be made according to a doctor’s prescription provided by the purchaser. Currently, the average purchase of the drug Ivermectin is generally around 10-15 pills per prescription.
“We sell it according to a prescription. It is mandatory to use a doctor’s prescription because now we are asked to report the expenditure. So, now it is monitored from the center for the procurement of Ivermectin, so it is more stringent and afraid that there will be misuse if it is not according to the indications given to the patient,” said one pharmacist who refused to be named to CNNIndonesia.com, Friday (2/7).
Apart from Indofarma’s Ivermectin, Kimia Farma Pharmacy also sells similar drugs with different brands, namely Ivermax. However, the price is more expensive, which is IDR 28 thousand per item.
Although it is expensive, the purchase of Ivermax is apparently quite in demand. According to him, this is because the stock of Ivermax is higher and comes faster than Ivermectin made by Indofarma.
“(Ivermectin) is already pretty good (hunted for now). But because yesterday the goods were ready first, Ivermax, so it was still bought. In fact, five boxes (boxes) were sold equal to 50 items a day,” he said.
However, unlike pharmacies, the price of Ivermectin has skyrocketed in e-commerce, such as the health application Halodoc. Currently, the price of Ivermectin made by Indofarma is sold at a starting price of IDR 190 thousand per bottle with a capacity of 20 grains.
This means that the price of Ivermectin is around Rp. 9,500 per item or higher than the pharmacy. Purchases must also include a doctor’s prescription as well as buying directly at the pharmacy.
Meanwhile, Ivermax is priced from IDR 261.8 thousand per 10 items, so the price is IDR 26 thousand per item or cheaper than the pharmacy.
In e-commerce, such as Blibli.com, Shopee, and Tokopedia, Ivermectin prices are set higher. At Blibli.com, only Ivermax is available at a price of IDR 650 thousand per strip with a capacity of 10 grains. That is, the price is Rp. 65 thousand per item.
Meanwhile at Shopee, the price of Ivermax is sold for around IDR 265 thousand to IDR 279 thousand per 10 items or IDR 26.5 thousand to IDR 27.9 thousand per item.
At Tokopedia, the price of Ivermax is IDR 250 thousand to IDR 298 thousand per 10 items or IDR 25 thousand to IDR 29.8 thousand per item.
