Exodus expats provides flow of furnished homes | Financial

Real estate agency NVM and Vastgoedmanagement Nederland report this on Wednesday in their quarterly report on the rental market. “Many foreign employees of large international companies have returned to their home countries because of the Corona virus. The continuing pressure on the rental market means that the vacant rental properties are re-let ”, says NVM chairman Onno Hoes. “The number of rental transactions for furnished homes is even 20% higher than last year.”

The quarterly figures show that the average rent per square meter in the third quarter was € 13.02. That is an increase of 10.2% on an annual basis. According to the organizations, this price increase is mainly caused by the fact that many more expensive apartments have been rented out. ·

It is striking that the average rents per square meter of unfurnished (1.9%) and furnished (0.9%) homes have barely increased, certainly not if you take inflation into account. The rent for unfurnished homes is now € 17.34 per square meter. In the furnished segment, the rent is € 20.57 per square meter.

In total, more than 9,000 ‘bare’ rental transactions and nearly 2,500 rental transactions of upholstered and furnished homes were registered, according to the report.
