Programming

Three of the six works of the festival have already been presented in this version: “Residuos” from the Universidad Mayor, “Nadie” from UNIACC, “La otra guerra” from the Universidad de Humanismo Cristiano. Today is the turn of “We” of the Finis Terrae University. It is followed by “Acabarás accustomándote a este lugar” by the Catholic University and “Those who are left on the road” by the Theater Department of the University of Chile (DETUCH).

The instance, which is financed by the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage, is also supported by the Chilean Actors and Actresses Union (SIDARTE), Provoz, Teatro del Puente, Chileactores, International Dubbing Chile (DINDT) and Yours is Pure Theater.

The prize for the winning graduate that will be awarded on August 24 will be a season that will open the 2024 programming at Teatro Sidarte plus a season in March 2023 at Teatro del Puente.

Claudia Narea, Sidarte Theater programmer, emphasizes the “extremely important thing to open the spaces to the new generations, to the emerging ones that are generally independent companies, of very young people who need the initial support to start their journey”. “Attend EXIT 2023 where you can see the languages used by young companies, appreciate that exquisite fusion that is generated between directors with vast experience with recently graduated actors. They are high-level shows, acting, sensory, scenic that no loving spectator or theatergoer should pass up. And no less important, it is to provide support to the new generation of actors and actresses in Chile ”, she closes.

“Us”

Graduated from Finis Terrae University, directed by Alexandra Von Hummel.

The story revolves around the kidnapping of an important philosophy professor -and the wife of a politician- at the hands of an organization that we believe to be revolutionary, but whose objectives are never exposed in the work.
For the same reason, we can agree -or not- with what they claim, since we don’t know. On the other hand, workers from a recording studio and people close to the politician are interrupted when they find body parts that belong to the kidnapped woman.

Teatro Nufa brings this work to life, for them “the main thing is to be able to show our work outside of academics, to live this experience as a company, since we seek to continue working together, reach new audiences and see the work of our colleagues. The public cannot miss “Nosotros” because it is a very diverse work that makes the public go through extreme emotions, where it is sometimes funny, but also very serious, uncomfortable and even overwhelming”.

Regarding the experience of the festival, Teatro Nufa highlights the importance of the instance because it helps to “generate networks, get to know each other among the graduates and make our work known, that there is a dialogue and exchange between the different processes and mainly that they make themselves known the new looks that begin to emerge from the theater, the questions that arise among all these groups that have just left the university”.

It will be presented today Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at the Sidarte Theater, located at Ernesto Pinto Lagarrigue 131, Recoleta. Tickets can be purchased through this link.

“You will end up getting used to this place”

Graduated from the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile, directed by Alexandra Von Hummel.

“You want to save your relationship and you don’t know what to do? Us neither. Call us for your move”. That is the slogan of the removal company in charge of moving the belongings of the inhabitants of a building. While the company’s workers do their jobs, they witness a series of clumsy, endearing, and painful disagreements between the locals who are fighting for the change not to destroy their relationships. The characters are not here or there, they are moving.

The UC graduate group refers to what they expect to be part of this festival: “We are mainly interested in making ourselves known as a group and continuing to gain experience as actors and actresses.” “This type of space seems important to us, since theater school graduates are works that border the limits between the professional field and the academy, although a production is made in order to be presented in a theater, it does not completely leave it. of the pedagogical framework. Because of this, the possibility of showing the work outside of that scope is a space that challenges us and helps us to continue acquiring acting experience, become professional in the trade and be able to create ties with other schools”.

It will be presented on Saturday, August 19 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sidarte Theater, located at Ernesto Pinto Lagarrigue 131, Recoleta. tickets via is link.

“Those who are left on the road”

Graduated from the University of Chile with dramaturgy by Isidora Aguirre, directed by Jesús Urqueta.

“Those who are left on the road”, written by Isidora Aguirre in 1969, portrays the story of the Ranquil massacre (1934) that took the lives of 70 peasants from the area.

This is a strong story backed up by the investigations that the author carried out in the place, collecting the testimonies of the survivors of this historical event; dramaturgically configuring to give voice and action to the peasant town protagonist of the event.

The work makes a critical exposition of the facts and defends the idea that the normalization of silence in the face of these stories has been a recurring action in society, which denies the past and thereby promotes oblivion.

It will be presented on Wednesday, August 23 at 7:30 p.m. at the Sidarte Theater, located at Ernesto Pinto Lagarrigue 131, Recoleta. tickets through is link.

Teatro Sidarte is part of the Support Program for Collaborating Cultural Organizations of the Ministry of Culture, Arts and Heritage. Said program seeks to strengthen and give continuity to cultural institutions and organizations of private law and non-profit purposes.
