Many entrepreneurs who were counting on exemption from ZUS contributions for the period March – May this year have miscalculated. Instead of getting relief, they lost their money – writes Dziennik Dziennik Gazeta Prawna on Monday.
The anti-crisis shield was supposed to free the business from the burden of contributions in three months, when the pandemic was prevailing. Some entrepreneurs, after receiving information from ZUS about exemption from contributions, are rubbing their eyes with amazement. They didn’t get what they hoped for (PLN 1431.48 for each month) – we read in “DGP”.
According to the newspaper, it happened because “ZUS has charged all overpayments to current contributions for April-May, and only released it from what was left after deducting the surplus.”
– In a word, if someone had an overpayment, e.g. PLN 400, then in April he was released for the amount of PLN 1031.48. If his overpayment amounted to PLN 1,430, he was granted a PLN 1.48 exemption. Those in whom the overpayment exceeded twice the monthly contributions were in the worst situation. The Social Insurance Institution (ZUS) counted it towards the beginning of April and May this year, so he did not grant any help. Those who did not have any free money on ZUS account came out best – it was written.
ZUS: deduction of excess payments in accordance with the law
As reported, ZUS believes that the deduction of overpayments is in accordance with the law. He explains that the exemption from contributions only covers unpaid claims for a given month. Those who are covered by overpayments are considered paid. In ZUS branches you can hear that entrepreneurs are themselves to blame. – Why did they keep the overpayment? – officials ask.
According to the newspaper, ZUS shows that it is not worth being fair to state institutions. – Because I use actions in good faith against the payer – said “DGP” president of the company Ekonomikus from Sosnowiec Paweł Białek.
