Executive did not present request for new loans for Central Administration • El Nacional

The Executive Power did not present to the National Congress any bill that involves new loans for the Central Administration, said the Vice Minister of Economy of the Ministry of Finance, Iván Haas.

The vice minister explained that the fact of not requesting new loans is in line with what is framed in the Fiscal Convergence proposal, which proposes to gradually return to the 1.5% fiscal deficit.

He added that the only project they have presented so far was the one that involves a loan for the National Electricity Administration (ANDE), of 250 million dollars, with the Development Bank of Latin America (CAF), which is paid by this institution and therefore does not affect the deficit.

He recalled this Monday in an interview with a radio medium that the Law of Economic Consolidation and Social Containment represents some 365 million dollars, which will be financed with a capitalization of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the rest with internal budget reprogramming.

On the other hand, regarding reform projects such as the Civil Service, Public Procurement and Fiscal Convergence, he stated that they should be dealt with as quickly as possible in the National Congress. “Hopefully now, with the new board of directors of the National Congress and the conformation of the commissions, we can sit down to debate the bills,” he said.

Regarding the collection, he specified that good signs are being seen and if a comparison is made with 2020, there is an increase of 30%. He mentioned that in the same way, if you look at the 2019-2018 numbers, you can see that you are having the same level of income from these years, but with expenses for 2021. For this reason, as detailed, they presented the Economic Consolidation and Containment project Social, with the aim of matching some social and health expenses.
