How did you experience the drama? After all, the opponent was still advancing in the 90th minute.
I told the boys during the break that we were able to give the Welsh three goals. Which came true. But it was not easy to stand out in the end, the centers that our high attackers would need did not go into the sixteen. We really appreciate the process, even though it was worked out and fought on our part. But we turned around another difficult match, the team has great inner strength. The turn will encourage us to further matches.
You deserved overwhelming pressure in retirement, obviously we didn’t want penalties. In the end, however, you managed them with an overview. Did you train them?
We kicked penalties continuously after each training session. I knew we had a lot of good shooters, I believed they could take the pressure. I’m glad that all the penalties came out and we were held by goalkeeper Hruška, who caught one.

Have you appointed five executors by directive?
I had an idea, but I consulted with the players. I didn’t want to order them to dig without finding out if they believed. All honor, for example, before Káčer, who masterfully changed the penalty. He was on the field for a few minutes, in such a situation it is not easy to go for a penalty.

The Welsh delayed the match, lying on the lawn. Was it hard to keep your nerves?
We encouraged the players not to comment on any statement of the referee, nor to react to the delay of the opponent. He was lying in the first match, they were probably caught in convulsions in retaliation. It’s hard to run without a balloon the whole match. We focused on ourselves, which paid off for us.
After half an hour, you sent the second attacker, the Sick, into play. Why so soon?
Because we collected soon, something needed to be changed. We couldn’t make it at sixteen. But even then, we didn’t create a good chance for a long time. We are all the more glad that we were able to grab the process.
After the match, the stadium called out your name. Did the chill run down your spine?
Above all, I am happy that we have won and advanced. Everything else was nice as well. I appreciate that so many spectators came, they drove us to progress. Many thanks to them.
