The federal government will award an exceptional incentive bonus for hospital staff this year. This concerns 985 euros for those who work full-time. An adjusted amount is provided for those who do not work full-time. Minister of Health Frank Vandenbroucke announced this on Saturday afternoon.

According to Vandenbroucke, this second Covid wave once again requires “superhuman commitment and full dedication from our hospital staff”. “These exceptional efforts should not only be recognized, but also encouraged,” said the minister. That is why the Council of Ministers decided to allocate a one-off budget of 200 million euros.

Consumptiecheque
The social partners were allowed to work out a proposal on the incentive bonus. In concrete terms, this concerns 985 euros gross for those who work full-time from September to November. That amount will be paid before December 31. An adjusted amount is provided for those who do not work full-time.

At the same time, the government has already decided to extend the € 300 consumption check to all federal health workers. They can spend these until the end of 2021 in the hospitality, sports and cultural sector or in retail.

“Higher wages”
Finally, the social agreement was also signed, worth 600 million euros. With that amount, structural and sustainable investments in the entire federal healthcare sector will become concrete in the course of next year.

“This is a difficult period for everyone. But for whom it is already particularly difficult for the second time, all our people are in care. They don’t just deserve appreciation and respect. They earn more. The consumption check of 300 euros is a nice extra, but they also require real changes in the field. That is why we are also structurally investing in higher wages and better working conditions ”, concludes Vandenbroucke.
