Exception for D56? Mayors are urging the public to fight for the highway sign

Thirteen mayors are demanding the abolition of the motorway stamp between Frýdek-Místek and Ostrava, and currently the public has decided to get involved in the fight for the motorway stamp.

The petrol station at the industrial zone next to the motorway became a place on Monday afternoon where representatives of 8 out of a total of 13 municipalities signed a petition for exemption from tolls on motorway II. class D56 between Frýdek-Místek and Ostrava. Now they will spread it among the public in all possible directions and ways in order to collect as many signatures as possible and force Prague to act and constructively communicate.

“We find it absurd to pay a motorway toll due to a several-kilometer section that does not even follow the highway and is often repaired, so drivers still have to keep an eye on not only the speed, but also focus on traffic cones and makeshift lines. This drives a lot of drivers to the districts leading through the surrounding villages, where traffic is growing, and the associated noise, dust and increased exhaust emissions, “the petition said.

“We tried to negotiate in various ways in Prague, but they put a stop sign everywhere for us or we felt like we were at a roundabout. That is why we came up with the petition, we need as many signatures as possible for citizens and drivers who do not want to pay for something that is free elsewhere in the country. We need people to show that they don’t care, that they don’t mind, and they want to change it. Each signature is an argument. If we have thousands of arguments, we should achieve ours, “said Karel Deutscher, Deputy Mayor.

The Petitions Committee is composed of representatives of 13 municipalities and parts of Ostrava – namely Frýdek-Místek, Sviadnov, Paskov, Žabeň, Krmelín, Řepiště, Staříč, Fryčovice, Proskovice, Nova Bělá, Stará Bělá, Hrabová and Zábřeh.

“I will forward the petition to the mayors of all municipalities falling under our municipality with extended powers, so that they can join us and have the petition and signature sheets at their offices as well,” the deputy added.

In Frýdek-Místek, people can sign the petition in the municipal buildings, specifically on the information in the municipal building on Radniční Street in Frýdek and also in the building on Politických obětí Street in Místek. According to the Act on the Right to Petition, the petition must be signed in person.
