Antonio Brown leaves behind a complicated legacy from his short tenure with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The receiver played a key role in the Bucs’ Super Bowl victory, but he also made the championship replay that much more difficult when he walked off the field midway through the game against the Jets.

Minutes before the Buccaneers faced the Rams in the Divisional Round, Brown took to Instagram to say hello to his former quarterback Tom Brady.

“APG @tombrady good luck today 🙏🏾 #kumbaya,” Brown said in the Jan. 23 post that featured a photo with Brady.

Here’s a look at Brown’s message to Brady that has since gone viral.

Since leaving the Buccaneers, Brown has made mixed comments about Brady, but continues to emphasize that he gets along with the legendary quarterback. Brown also called out Brady’s close friend and personal trainer, Alex Guerrero, in a social media post claiming he took money from him for services he never provided. Brown’s most incendiary comments about Brady came during an interview on the FULL SEND podcast, in which the wide receiver implied that the quarterback was just his friend because he was a talented playmaker.

“It’s not personal, man,” Brown said of his relationship with Brady during the Jan. 8 interview. “Tom is actually my friend, one of my closest friends… I’m saying that some people have a different definition of a friend, because when I say ‘I’m your friend,’ that means I’ve got your back. I mean, to me that’s what a friend means, but a friend is not like that in this world and how we live. You know, we play professional sports, like not everyone in sports is going to be your friend.

“Tom Brady is my friend, why? Because I am [a] good soccer player You need me to play soccer, right? These guys called me to win the Super Bowl, not the toilet bowl. …They called me and said, ‘Hey AB, we need you to win the Super Bowl.’ Because Tom Brady saw me come to the Pats and run those guys down.”

Brady on Brown: ‘I think there are a lot of personal feelings, obviously’

After Brown stormed off the field, Brady encouraged people to show empathy to the receiver during his Jan. 2 postgame news conference. Days later, Brady was asked for his feelings on Brown as the wide receiver continued to make his rounds in the media.

Brady sounded less sympathetic, admitting he had some “personal feelings” about the situation, but declined to go into detail as the team prepared to close out the regular season against the Panthers.

“I think there’s a lot of personal feelings, obviously,” Brady said during a Jan. 6 news conference. “However, I don’t think this is really a week to discuss it, so. I’ll do my best as the team’s quarterback and try to put together a great week, finish strong. You always deal with different things over the course of the season. That’s what we’re doing this week.”
