Ex-Bayern talent Flavius Daniliuc (22) is moving to Red Bull Salzburg on loan from US Salernitana. On Wednesday, the Austrian Bundesliga club reported completion. With a market value of 7 million euros, the Viennese native was the second most valuable professional in the squad at the bottom of Serie A, where Daniliuc was only able to maintain his regular place from last season in phases.
“Due to Samson Baidoo’s injury, it was necessary for us to bring in someone else on defense,” explained Salzburg’s sporting director Bernhard Seonbuchner. In addition to Baidoo, Lukas Wallner (20) is also currently unavailable due to a torn ankle ligament. For the former Munich player, it is the first professional station in his home country of Austria. As a youth he played for the Salzburg farm team FC Liefering. Daniliuc moved from OGC Nice to Salerno in the summer of 2022 for a fee of 5.8 million euros and signed a contract until 2026. After his stint in Italy, he recommended himself for the Austrian national team, where he played his only game so far last March .
The gap that Daniliuc leaves in Salerno will most likely be filled by Jérôme Boateng (35). According to Romano, the relegation candidate is negotiating with the 2014 world champion, who has been without a club since his contract with Olympique Lyon ended in the summer.
