Everything you need to know about the Eifel Grand Prix | Safety Car

The Formula 1 drivers have had a week off, but the race weekend at the famous Nürburgring is now approaching. A circuit that has not been on the calendar since 2013. So it’s high time to go through everything.

The Nürburgring is one of the most famous and notorious circuits in the world. Over the years, however, the asphalt has been changed several times, making it slightly more accessible. The circuit first opened its doors in 1927. At the time, it took the drivers over no less than 28 kilometers of asphalt. The track then consisted of the Nordschleife (22.8 kilometers) and the Südschleife (7.7 kilometers) and was soon nicknamed the Green Hell.

However, the circuit in this capacity has not been used since 1976, after Niki Lauda threatened to burn alive after a major crash. Since then, the layout has been changed several times. However, it is still a tough circuit, which is a major challenge, partly because of the gravel and lack of run-off lanes.
