Everything wrong. Twenty turned out differently than expected. But the good news is not

Everything wrong. What could have gone wrong from the Czech point of view at the tournament in Canada has gone wrong. It started with the already canceled only preparatory duel against the Swiss due to an infection in the opponent’s staff.

In the opening match of the tournament against the favored Canada, the Czechs surprised with a promising start and a 3: 1 lead, but then came a five-goal turnaround in the selection of Javorový list and the injury of key defender Jiříček, for whom the World Cup ended prematurely.

For his teammates, however, a few days later, too, when the directorate canceled the tournament due to the occurrence of a coronavirus infection in the US, Czech and Russian teams due to fears of further spread of the covid. The Czechs already had a shameful defeat in overtime with Germany and they would most likely fight in a direct duel with Austria to advance to the quarterfinals at the end of the group.

Why weren’t the Czechs enough for the Germans, who missed their biggest stars? Why didn’t the bubble in Edmonton and Red Deer work when last year? And does it make sense for the tournament to take place on an alternate date in the summer? The new part of the Za mantinelem podcast is not just answering these questions.
