“Everything as in youth.” Latvian seniors’ stories about the search for love will be premiered

The film is a bright and poignant documentary story about Latvian seniors and their search for love. It tells about people who, despite their respectable age, do not put up with loneliness, confidently go on new adventures and are open to the opportunities offered by life. One of these searches leads to new partners, another to a person to travel with, while another manages to find a life partner.

The characters of the film reveal their experiences where feelings are as anxious as in youth and where life is also full of passions in today’s digital environment.

Director Katrīna Tomašicka says: “With the film, I wanted to show that the search for love, even at a respectable age, should not be perceived by us, society, as a taboo or something extraordinary. It is a life that continues. A life that people live, longing for closeness, warmth and understanding . Meeting does not immediately mean big changes; sincere conversations and shared experiences can also change a person’s everyday life. I hope that with this story we will inspire both the seniors themselves to be safe and open, and their loved ones to support their elderly. Encouraging words and also a quiet, understanding presence side by side can help open up to new experiences.”

Filming began even before the pandemic, and the premiere will conclude a five-year production cycle. It is planned to show the film in the regions of Latvia in the spring.

Film director Katrīna Tomasicka, cinematographer Andis Šūba, editing director Sandra Alksne, music author Edgars Šubrovskis, sound director Pēteris Pāss, producers “Story Hub” and “Odze films”. The making of the film was supported by the State Culture Capital Fund and BBrental.eu. Tickets for the premiere are available at aula.lv and before the event at the cinema.
