The FDA has issued approvals for booster vaccinations in the Modern case and Johnson & Johnson. On the other hand, the agency allowed a mix of vaccines so that two or more injections can come from different manufacturers in the future. This procedure, which is known as “mix and match” in the USA, is already practiced in other countries, such as Germany.
It should continue to “proactively fight the COVID-19 pandemic,” said FDA Executive Director Janet Woodcock. Vaccinations offer the most “safe and effective” protection against the disease and a serious or even fatal development.
Following FDA approval, the CDC health authority must publish the appropriate vaccination recommendations. This is considered a formality.
Who can benefit from the Moderna and Johnson & Johnson recalls
Vaccinations recall Modern can be given to all people over the age of 65, as well as to all adults at high risk of getting sick. The second injection must have been given at least six months ago. Johnson & Johnson vaccines can be given again two months after vaccination for people who are at least 18 years old.
The Biontech / Pfizer recall has already been officially approved, and vaccination with the new dose has already begun in the United States.
About 170 million people in the US have been vaccinated so far with the complete scheme from Biontech / Pfizer or Moderna, and about 15 million with the serum developed by Johnson & Johnson.
Debates on the administration of a new recall
The issue of booster is fundamentally controversial, notes Der Spiegel. Proponents say an extra dose of the vaccine increases protection against coronavirus infection, especially with regard to the spread of the Delta variant and a decrease in immunity over time.

In early November, Biontech and Pfizer applied for an emergency approval of vaccines for this age group. The serum is approved for all categories from the age of 12 years.
