“Every time we meet”: – Wanted to retire

On Saturday 1 January, the stage was set for the premiere of another season “Every time we meet”. In this year’s season, which is the 15th in a row, are the artists Jarle Bernhoft (45), Stig Brenner (31), Arif (35), Myra (27), Tix (28), Anna of the North (32), Øystein Greni (47) and Maj Britt Andersen (65 ) who will pay tribute to each other.

First out was Tix, and next Saturday it will be Andersen’s songs that will be interpreted by the others. On that occasion, the two very different artists visited «Good morning Norway» Tuesday, and that was where one of them could come up with a surprising revelation.

Grudd seg

In the studio, Tix says that he has dreaded for half a year, until the program was to be broadcast on TV:

– Yes, I have dreaded both before and after the program. I actually withdrew. But then I was convinced to join anyway, reveals Tix, who is unsure if he is allowed to say it at all.

The reason why the “Fallen Angel” singer wanted to retire, he says, was because it was a bit much a period after Eurovision.

Wanted to tell the story

In May 2021, Tix, or Andreas Haukeland as his real name is, traveled to the Netherlands to represent Norway at Eurovision. There was no victory there, but already on the way home Haukeland started working on the songs for “Every time we meet”. Shortly after, the recording began.

– There was so much at that time, and I felt that I needed to breathe a little. But then “Every time we meet” and the story I wanted to tell there were so important to me, and then I knew that there would be such nice people, Haukeland says.

But it should turn out to be without reason. His interpretation of Øystein Greni’s song “Girl in Oslo” is already on the top list of most played songs in Norway on Spotify – even before it has been performed in the program
