Upon his arrival on Saturday at a campaign activity of the president, Senator Vázquez said that what she meant was that she communicated directly with the then secretary of Justice to expedite the process of raising bodies during the emergency of the hurricane.

The official refers to expressions that have gained criticism in social networks by referring to the deaths of Hurricane Maria, an issue that has caused the country’s outrage over the poor management of the government during the emergency.

For his part, the campaign director of Governor Vázquez, Jorge Dávila, downplayed the comment of the legislator.

“I think people understand what he meant,” said Dávila. When he was told to explain Evelyn Vázquez’s statement, he replied: “Sometimes they give too much importance to a small linguistic lapse,” he said.

On the other hand, Vázquez affirmed today that he has not received any summons from the Department of Justice in relation to the investigation that he carries out on the handling of supplies in case of emergency due to seismic activity to the south.

Last Thursday, the Novoprogressive senator rejected the insinuations that she intervened to delay the delivery of aid directed to refugees by the earthquakes.
