Évasion de Thionville Climbing Club Brings Mobile Wall to Briey Lake for an Exciting Introduction

The Evasion de Thionville climbing club had installed its mobile wall this Sunday, July 23, a stone’s throw from La Guitoune, a brand new brewery on the Briey lake, to initiate visitors. And the children were happy to challenge each other on each side of the wall.

“Come on, Agathe, you’re almost there! “, encouraged a volunteer from the Évasion climbing club in Thionville – Audun-le -Tiche, while the little blond head high as three apples climbed with ease to the top of the mobile wall. “This side of the wall, vertical, is more difficult than the slab side, it has fewer holds,” underlines André Lorenzini, one of the club’s managers. But it is not age, and even less sex, that determines whether or not a climber can achieve his goal. “Anyone can practice, even from the age of 3, some have the necessary motor skills. And, at the club, we have a large majority of girls.

A heavy organization

Meanwhile, on the nearby flagstone wall, little Jocelyn tries to slide down. “No, look, you can move to the left,” André shows him. “He is scared, and I was also scared while trying earlier,” admits the boy’s mother. Not easy, but the club leaders are there for that: to hold the climbers at the end of the rope, to guide them and encourage them from the ground.

And they were 6 to make themselves available all day this Sunday, at the lake of Briey, at the request of Guitoune, a new brewery opened a month ago. “We have to move the movable wall in tow, which requires someone with a permit for that. The wall must then be fixed, and there must be several of us to secure the six people who can climb simultaneously,” explains André.

Invited by Guitoune

This little animation, which therefore requires a heavy organization, remains very popular. “For some reason, climbing has been on the rise for a few years, and we are very busy,” notes the manager. This Sunday, they were invited by Florian Bravetti, at the head of the restaurant La Clauserie in Briey and, for a month, of the Guitoune, bar and brasserie open all summer from Wednesday to Sunday, from 2:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. “Climbing is our first activity, and we will surely do one a month,” announces the manager.
