EV6 is just the beginning. Kia is working on two new-era electric SUVs

Kia European Product Manager Sjoerd Knipping spoke with the Auto Express server about the development of two new electric models on a new electric platform. He admitted that the company is working on two SUVs, the larger of which will go to the overseas market and the smaller will remain in Europe.

Details on both models are very limited, but reports say the larger SUV should be called either EV7 or EV8 in the US, while the smaller crossover is likely to be EV4.

Auto Express writes that the electric crossover for Europe will be created on the shared modular E-GMP platform, on which the already introduced EV6 or the associated Hyundai Ioniq 5 or Genesis GV60 stand. The car should then have dimensions similar to the current Sportage and the main rivals should be cars like the Volvo C40 or Mercedes-Benz EQA.

Most unconfirmed reports say that the EV4 will use the same drive as the EV6, which means it could have batteries with a capacity of up to 77.4 kWh and a maximum output of as much as 321 horsepower with all-wheel drive in the most powerful variant. Kia plans to sell up to 11 electric models by 2025.
