The Eurovision Song Contest will still be organized in Rotterdam next year. That was announced on Saturday evening during the TV show Eurovision: Europe Shine A Light.
The song festival finale was supposed to take place in the city on Saturday night, but it was dropped due to the corona virus. The European Broadcast Union (EBU) therefore wanted to know before the end of the month whether the Netherlands would still be the host country for the song festival in 2021.
At the end of April, Rotterdam had already announced its intention to host the Eurovision Song Contest next year.
“Now, more than ever, it is important that we, as a public broadcaster, are committed to continuing this European tradition and organizing a great event that people can look forward to during this difficult time,” said NPO President Shula Rijxman in a message on the EBU site. “We are doing everything in our power to organize a very special edition.”

Jeangu Macrooy will remain a participant on behalf of the Netherlands in 2021
Jeangu Macrooy will also represent the Netherlands at the edition in 2021. He will then not be submitting this year, Glow, to perform. The organization of the Eurovision song contest announced on Twitter at the end of March that the songs with which all artists would participate in the postponed Eurovision Song Contest are excluded from participation in 2021.
It is not yet known when exactly the Eurovision Song Contest will take place next year, and what form the song festival will take due to the corona virus. The organization is expected to announce more about this in the coming weeks and months.
