Eurovision 2022 headquarters in Italy: the selection process
In July they were presented 17 official nominations to host Eurovision 2022, which will follow the 2021 edition won by Maneskin. For 6 Italian cities, however, the dream of hosting the international singing festival ended a few days later. The first selection, in fact, had seen only 11 cities “pass the turn”, that is, those that had officially presented a dossier with the details of their candidacy.
The cities that were excluded during the first selection are Florence, Bertinoro di Romagna, Jesolo, Matera, Trieste e Viterbo.
The official and definitive announcement of the city chosen as the seat ofEurovision 2022 in Italia is expected for the end of August.
Eurovision 2022 headquarters in Italy: what are the requirements
There are several requirements for a city to become the official headquarters of Eurovision. In this list stand out:
- the presence of an indoor structure capable of hosting at least 8,000 spectators;
- the availability of at least 2,000 hotel rooms near the place of the event;
- the presence of a well-connected international airport less than an hour and a half from the venue;
- the availability of a logistic structure around the main area, equipped with a press center for a thousand journalists, as well as services for the public such as bathrooms and refreshment points for food and drinks;
- the exclusive availability of the entire infrastructure for 6 weeks before the event, the 2 weeks of the show and the following week.
